Crystal Palace attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze has raved about Everton star James Rodriguez on PremierLeague.com.

Eze – who joined Palace from Queens Park Rangers in the summer of 2020 for an initial transfer fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £16 million – played against James during the Eagles’ 2-1 defeat to Everton at Selhurst Park in London in the Premier League in September 2020.

The 22-year-old has said that the former Real Madrid attacking midfielder is the toughest player he has faced in the Premier League so far and is in awe of him.

Eze told PremierLeague.com about James: “He was picking off passes, and I was just thinking, I didn’t even know what was going to happen there.

“Looking back at it, you’re like, ‘I don’t know how he even saw that. What made you do that?’ He looked like a crazy player.”

Immediate impact

While James’s recent performances have not been great, the Colombia international has done well overall for Everton so far this season.

The 29-year-old, who can also operate as a winger, started the season strongly for the Toffees and will be a key figure in the Merseyside club’s quest to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.

According to WhoScored, James has scored three goals and providing three assists in seven Premier League games for Carlo Ancelotti’s side so far this season.
