Tottenham fans have now been given a fairly significant update about Julian Nagelsmann in their hunt for a new manager.

It was said that the German held very positive talks with Chelsea in recent days as the 35-year-old appeared to be slipping away from Spurs.

That was according to Sky Germany, despite a story from the Telegraph claiming that Nagelsmann is Daniel Levy’s No.1 option to replace Antonio Conte.

Now, there has been a “crazy” development.

What’s the story?

Well – according to Christian Falk of German outlet BILD – Nagelsmann is now concentrating on securing the Tottenham job after deciding against joining Chelsea.

Falk adds that Thomas Tuchel – the man who replaced Nagelsmann at Bayern Munich – rejected Tottenham before joining the German giants.

If that is true, it is very exciting news for Spurs fans.

Nagelsmann is one of the most precocious minds in management, having already registered 221 career wins as well as three trophies by the age of just 35.

He was hugely unfortunate to lose his job at Bayern Munich, after tasting defeat in just three games out of 37 this season.

Nevertheless, Bayern Munich’s loss now seems to be Tottenham’s gain if Falk’s update is true.

Tottenham cannot let Nagelsmann down

In many ways, Tottenham have another Mauricio Pochettino on their hands here as one of Europe’s brightest young coaches now looks to be heading to N17.

Therefore, Levy needs to learn from his past mistakes and ensure he backs Nagelsmann, giving him every possible chance of success in north London.

It would be utterly pointless to win the race for Nagelsmann’s signature, only to make his job tough.

If the 61-year-old makes the German operate with scraps and he eventually fails, Spurs fans will surely lose any remaining hope they still have, after seeing the experiment of hiring proven winners such as Jose Mourinho and Conte fail tremendously.
