Tottenham fans aren’t a happy bunch after Ruben Dias was named the Premier League’s Player of the Season ahead of Harry Kane on Saturday, as confirmed by Sky Sports.

The Manchester City defender helped Pep Guardiola’s side lift the Premier League title, win the League Cup against Spurs and reach the Champions League final in his debut campaign.

But given the star-studded names already surrounding Dias, many Spurs fans think Kane did more of the heavy lifting and was ultimately done over.

Only two players since 1992 – Andy Cole and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink – have been top assist-maker and goalscorer in the same season.

Yet, whilst the above two players did it in two very strong sides, including Cole helping Manchester United to the Premier League title, Kane did in a Tottenham team that’s in decline and that finished seventh.

That’s what perhaps infuriates Spurs fans most because without their star man up top, it has to be questioned whether or not they would have even finished in the top ten.

Without Dias, those at the Etihad would have probably still won the League Cup – just like they have done during the past few seasons – and they probably still would have won the Premier League title.

Either way, it has to be questioned what more Kane had to do in order to be crowned Player of the Season?

He’s been the top goalscorer and assist-maker, so for the future, he has set the bar that even that won’t help you win POTY.

Or does every player need to have a medal around their neck in order to lift this individual award?

If that’s the case then players who don’t win anything for the season shouldn’t even be considered for such awards.

Nonetheless, here is a selection of Spurs fans reacting to Kane missing out on Player of the Season yesterday:
