Tottenham defender Emerson Royal has stated on his Instagram story that he is hoping Dani Alves has a ‘very successful’ time after his return to Barcelona.

The Spurs right-back just left the Nou Camp in the summer and it hasn’t taken new Barcelona boss Xavi much long to replace him with an iconic figure.

No man has won more trophies in his playing career than the 38-year-old, who has returned to the struggling Spanish club until January.

Barca fans may not get to see Alves working his magic out on that right, with Lionel Messi in front of him.

But at least they can get to see some glimpse of the past and the trophy-laden fullback trying to bring back the good times at the struggling club.

Nonetheless, this is what Emerson posted on his Instagram story regarding the news about Alves.

“May you be very successful this time @danialves,” said Emerson. “Always with joy. Good and crazy.”

Well, Alves will seemingly be replacing Tottenham’s £26 million player (Sky Sports) after his summer exit.

So, he has big shoes to fill because there are suggestions that Alves had posters of the Spurs man on his wall.

Joking aside, given that Emerson is Brazilian, this is something he probably would have wanted, to play alongside Alves in those iconic colours.

Whilst he can’t do that now on the domestic stage, he will, no doubt, be watching on from afar and cheering on his former club.
