Former Leicester City manager Craig Shakespeare has spoken highly of Everton central midfielder Tom Davies to Sky Sports.

Shakespeare worked with Davies at Everton when the former Leicester boss was appointed as assistant manager to Sam Allardyce in December 2017.

“When Tom first came on the scene I wasn’t there but I had watched him from afar and thought what a good player he was,” Shakespeare told Sky Sports about Davies.

“He burst onto the scene really and the crowd took to him immediately. When I got to work with him I really enjoyed it.

“He is very lively but he has a very good head on his shoulders and is very good in terms of understanding the role and wanting to improve.

“He has the tactical nous that you want from a midfield player and he has great energy too.”

Promising talent

Davies is a very good and talented young central midfielder who is only going to get better in the coming years.

The England Under-21 international – who earns £25,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – has been at Everton since 2009, and the 20-year-old has been quite impressive whenever he has been given the chance.

The central midfielder made 20 starts and provided 13 substitute appearances in the Premier League for Everton last season, scoring two goals and providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.

Davis has played a total of 246 minutes in the Premier League so far this season, according to WhoScored

Everton are seventh in the Premier League table at the moment with six points from four matches.
