St. Mirren goalkeeper Craig Samson has told The Scottish Sun that he thinks that Celtic target Lewis Morgan will remain at the club until the end of the season.

According to Sky Sports, Celtic are interested in signing Morgan from St. Mirren in the January transfer window.

It has been reported that the Hoops are close to agreeing a deal with the Scottish Championship club for the 21-year-old midfielder.

St Mirren goalkeeper Samson has spoken highly of his teammate Morgan, and the 33-year-old does not believe that a deal will be made in which the youngster will not be in the team for the second half of the season.

“I don’t think the club are willing to let Lewis go to a club where he wouldn’t come back here,” Samson told The Scottish Sun.

“That was what I’d heard at the start of the season and I don’t think anything’s changed now. Within the dressing room and the club, we all know what Lewis is doing.

“As far as I am aware he will still be a St Mirren player until the end of the season, whether he signs for someone and comes back on loan to us.”

Morgan is one of the best young midfielders in Scotland and has been in superb form for St. Mirren so far this season.

It would make sense for Celtic to sign the youngster in the January transfer window and then loan him out to St. Mirren for the rest of the season.
