Former Rangers defender Craig Paterson has told The Scottish Sun that Mark Warburton should be showing his players a DVD of last season’s Scottish Cup semi-final win over Celtic.
On Sunday afternoon, Celtic and Rangers meet for the second Old Firm derby of the season, as this time they face off at Hampden Park for a place in the Scottish League Cup final.

In September, Celtic proved that they are still the top dogs in Glasgow, as they hammered Rangers 5-1 at Celtic Park in an embarrassing afternoon for Mark Warburton’s men.
However, it’s just six months since Rangers – then in the Scottish Championship – beat Celtic penalties in the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden Park following a 2-2 draw after extra time.
Rangers will need a similar performance on Sunday, and former defender Craig Paterson has told The Scottish Sun that the players should be watching a DVD of last season’s win.

Paterson, who turned out for Rangers in the 1980’s, suggested that he would be playing a DVD of last season’s display to his players if he was manager Warburton, as it was the best performance he saw from Rangers last season.
Paterson also hailed midfielder Andy Halliday for his performance in that game, and having re-established himself in the Rangers midfield over the last month, Paterson believes Halliday is the ‘leader of the band’ in midfield, and should be vital on Sunday.

“If I was the Rangers manager, I would be getting out the DVD of last year’s Scottish Cup semi-final,” said Paterson. “That was the best performance I saw of Rangers last season in terms of bravery, the way they took the ball in tight situations and stuck to their principles.”
“They were determined to play their normal way and they would not be knocked off their style. I felt Andy Halliday was absolutely outstanding that day and he’s back as leader of the band, if you like, in the midfield area. I think Mark Warburton will have a very good idea of what his team will be and what will be required,” he added.
