Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was unhappy with the state of Heart’s pitch on Sunday.
Hearts boss Craig Levein spoke to reporters in response to Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers’ claims that the grass on the pitch at Tynecastle was too long, sharing what he and the Hoops chief discussed after the game on Sunday, as quoted by the Daily Record.
The Glasgow giants eventually ran out comfortable 3-1 winners, after going behind early on in the match, and Rodgers was not happy with the playing surface at Hearts’ home ground.
The Northern Irishman suggested that the grass was far too long, and was of an unacceptable standard for top flight football.
The Hoops have already won the league, so the final result was meaningless when put into context, although pride for the players and the fans was at stake, of course.
Levein spoke to reporters in response to Rodgers’ claim regarding the state of the pitch at Tynecastle, and claimed that the Celtic boss didn’t mention the length of the grass during their meeting after the game, as quoted by the Daily Record:
“I spoke to Brendan for 20 minutes after the game and he never mentioned it. There were no complaints about the grass. If you want to talk about evening up the playing field then maybe if he brought a team along that earned the same money as our players then that would be fair.”
Next up for Hearts is a home game against Hibernian tonight, whilst Celtic play host to Kilmarnock.
