Craig Levein says no offer from Sunderland for Kyle Lafferty

Sunderland have been linked with Kyle Lafferty of Heart of Midlothian in the January transfer window.

Heart of Midlothian manager Craig Levein has told STV that there have been no offers from Sunderland for Kyle Lafferty.

Earlier today, The Daily Record reported that Sunderland in the Championship in England are interested in signing Lafferty from Scottish Premiership side Hearts in the January transfer window.

Hearts boss Levein has said that there has been no approach from the Black Cats for the former Rangers, Burnley and Sion forward.

“I don’t know anything about interest and I’ve certainly never had an offer from Sunderland,” Levein told STV regarding reported interest from Sunderland in Lafferty. ”It’s getting towards the end of the window, this happens every year.”

Lafferty joined Hearts only in the summer of 2017 after leaving Norwich City in the Championship in England.

The Northern Ireland international has established himself as an important player for the Jambos, and one suspects that the Scottish Premiership club will not be keen on parting company with him in the middle of the season.

Hearts are fifth in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 33 points from 23 matches, while Sunderland are currently third from bottom in the Championship table in England with only 25 points from 28 games.
