According to The Daily Record, Rangers are interested in securing the services of Souttar from Scottish Premiership rivals Hearts in the summer of 2019.
It has been reported that Rangers director of football Mark Allen has identified the 22-year-old central defender as “top signing target” at the end often season.
Hearts manager Levein has given his take on speculation linking Souttar with a move to Rangers, and he does not believe that the Scotland international will want to make the switch to the Gers this summer.
Levein told The Scottish Sun regarding Souttar to Rangers speculation: “I’m not sure John would want to go there. He is the most laid-back kid I have ever met in my life. It will take a lot to get John excited and I haven’t felt the need to speak to him about it.
“I don’t need to value him. It’s straightforward. If a club makes an offer then we will talk about it in the boardroom. Then we will have a better idea of what the price should be.
“John has improved every year since coming here and is in no hurry to go anywhere. That is something he has stressed to me.”
Good signing for Rangers?
Souttar is a very good and promising young central defender who can only improve and develop in the coming years.
With Joe Worrall only on loan at the Gers from Nottingham Forest until the end of the season, Rangers may need a replacement for him at the end of the season.
