Heart of Midlothian manager Craig Levein has told Deadlinenews.co.uk that Aaron Hickey will not leave the club amid reported interest from Leeds United, Queens Park Rangers and Manchester City.

Interest

According to The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 65, October 20, 2019), Leeds in the Championship are interested in signing Hickey from Hearts in the January transfer window.

It has been reported that the West Yorkshire outfit have been scouting the 17-year-old left-back and are planning a move in January.

The Daily Record has reported of interest from Mark Warburton’s Queens Park Rangers in the Scotland Under-17 international, with the Championship club in England planning a bid of £1.5 million for the youngster.

The Daily Mail has also credited defending Premier League champions City with interest in the teenager, with the report stating that the Citizens plan to send Hickey back on loan to Hearts after signing him for £1.5 million in January.

Levein told Deadlinenews.co.uk about Hickey: “I’m not getting involved in any of the talk. Our primary concern is to secure Aaron on a longer term contract and we are working on that.”

Hearts manager Craig Levein arrives ahead of the Scottish Premier League match between Hearts and Rangers at Tynecastle Park on 20 October, 2019 in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Hearts stay

Hickey is a very talented and promising young left-back, and the Scotland Under-17 international can only develop and progress in the coming years.

A move to England would be very tempting for the 17-year-old, but the teenager should wait until the end of the season at least to make a decision on his future.
