Steven Gerrard’s side visit Livingston and a certain Craig Halkett will be on the opposing side.
The 23-year-old centre-back, who had six months left on his contract, quit Rangers three years ago in search of first-team football.
Considering he is the Lions’ captain, you could argue that he might make the Gers’ first team now.
But if he contains red-hot hitman Jermain Defoe tomorrow then it could be quite embarrassing for the Ibrox club.
Think about it: the player you let go silencing a striker who Premier League defenders couldn’t deal it down the years.
Of course, Defoe is no longer in his pomp, but his goal against Kilmarnock in midweek indicates that he’ll still be a major asset in Scotland, one of the Premiership’s best goalscorers.
And it just wouldn’t be a good look if Halkett, a player they allowed to join a fellow Championship side at the time, acquits himself well against a goalscorer of Defoe’s vintage.
The very idea of that was unthinkable when he left Rangers, but he could make a very, very big statement tomorrow.
