Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers have failed to challenge for the Scottish Premiership title for the past two seasons, but it seems that Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon is taking Steven Gerrard’s Gers seriously this campaign.
Rangers are among four sides in the Scottish Premiership who are challenging Celtic for the league title, according to Gordon.
The 35-year-old Celtic star told The Daily Record: “We are certainly in a fight and we need to make sure we battle for every point.
“I don’t think we can look solely at Hearts as there are a few other teams as well. Aberdeen, Hibs and Rangers are also capable of stringing wins together and getting points on the board.
“There is a long way to go and a lot of difficult games. So far it would suggest the league is going to be more competitive.”
Serious threat
Rangers have struggled away from home in the Scottish Premiership so far this season and lost at Livingston this past weekend.
Although the Gers are two points behind bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic and eight points behind leaders Heart of Midlothian, they do have enough quality to climb up the table in the coming weeks and months.
What Rangers need is to improve their away form and also create more chances for their strikers.
Gerrard’s side do look strong defensively, although there is room for improvement in that department as well.
That Gordon considers Rangers as a genuine threat to Celtic shows just how far the Gers have come under Gerrard already this season.
