Celtic signed Scott Sinclair from Aston Villa during the summer transfer window.
Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon has told the Irish News that Brendan Rodgers spoke to him on the pitch after the Bhoys’ match against Kilmarnock last weekend.
Gordon came on at half-time against Kilmarnock, after he came on to replace the injured Dorus de Vries.
The Scottish international helped Celtic pick up a 6-1 victory in the fixture, but Rodgers felt that there were things that his side could have done better during the contest.
“He spoke to me at the end of the game on the pitch,” Gordon said.
“He’s looking for me to demand the defenders drop deeper to get on the ball. He wasn’t happy with some of their positioning when I had the ball. It’s little things like that that are going to help make sure we are all on the same page.”
Gordon went into the new campaign as Celtic’s first choice goalkeeper, but he lost his place to De Vries.
Gordon has now made just one Scottish Premiership appearance in the last month, but he looks set to start against Manchester City in the Champions League later this evening.
De Vries has failed to recover in time to play against the Premier League leaders, with Rodgers confirming that he has full faith in Gordon at his press conference yesterday.
The Scottish international could be in for a busy night in goal, as City head into the match at Celtic Park on the back of 10 consecutive victories.
