Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon has told The Daily Record that Dedryck Boyata has been fantastic for the team in recent weeks.

Gordon made the comments following Celtic’s 1-0 win against Aberdeen at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership this past Saturday afternoon.

The 27-year-old Belgium international central defender played well for the Hoops, with manager Brendan Rodgers telling the club’s official Twitter page that he was “outstanding”.

Celtic goalkeeper Gordon has spoken highly of Boyata, and told The Daily Record: “Dedryck (Boyata) has been fantastic since he came back into the team. He has been an absolute rock back there. He is so solid.”

Important player

Boyata’s absence during the Champions League qualifiers did affect Celtic in their quest to book their place in the group stage, but since he has been playing regularly, the Bhoys have looked superb at the back.

True, the former Manchester City defender does make mistakes from time to time, but it cannot be disputed that he is the best player in his position at Celtic at the moment.

Boyata – who earns £14,000 per week as salary, according to The Daily Star – joined Celtic from City in the summer of 2015 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £1.5 million.
