Stuart Armstrong has enjoyed a sensational season for Celtic, and has backed that up with a stunning debut for Scotland.

Craig Gordon has suggested that Celtic teammate Stuart Armstrong is good enough to play in the Premier League, and predicted that he is probably already being monitored by the top clubs, The Scotsman reports.

Armstrong has emerged as one of the stars of the season in the Scottish Premiership with his form enjoying a sharp incline under Brendan Rodgers compared to his performances under his predecessor Ronny Deila.

Those performances have brought him into the international reckoning, with Gordon Strachan handing the 24-year-old his Scotland debut in their World Cup qualifier against Slovenia at Hampden Park at the weekend.

And after arguably proving to be one of the best players on the pitch as he set up the winning goal for Chris Martin, Gordon suggested that the Hoops may have to fear fielding some offers for the midfielder.

“Stuart could play at
 Premier League level,” he said, as reported by The Scotsman. “He is turning into a big player and he is doing it in big games now.

“That’s sometimes what you look for from players, to see how they do in the bigger games. He is contributing, scoring in games against Rangers for Celtic and now creating an important goal for Scotland

“He’s got everything, really, and is playing with so much confidence at the moment. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were some really big teams looking at him,” he went on to add.

If Celtic fans had been told at the start of the season that Armstrong would seem indispensable to them by this stage, they would have probably laughed. However, that is arguably what he has become.

He has scored 11 times and contributed six assists from midfield for the Hoops in the top flight this term, and although Celtic have experience of replacing their better player in recent years, keeping Armstrong at Parkhead would certainly provide a major boost to their chances of developing considerably in the coming seasons.
