Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon has told The Daily Mail that he has no problem with manager Brendan Rodgers.

Gordon lost his place in the Celtic starting lineup to summer signing Dorus de Vries earlier in the season.

The Scotland international goalkeeper has now regained his place in the Bhoys’ team. The 33-year-old has said that Celtic boss Rodgers handled the situation quite well.

The former Heart of Midlothian and Sunderland goalkeeper has also stated that there is no problem between him and the ex-Liverpool manager.

“I think it had been coming for a while, so perhaps a step back was what I needed,” Gordon told The Daily Mail. “You don’t see that at the time.

“It was disappointing not to be in the team but it gave me the time to really focus on what was needed to play in this team.

“The manager has been great the whole time. He dealt with the situation really well. There has never been a problem there.

“Now that I look back at it, he has probably helped me not only in the short term but the long term too.”

Celtic are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 34 points from 12 matches. The Hoops are 10 points clear of second-placed Aberdeen and have a game in hand.

The Glasgow giants will return to action on Wednesday evening when they take on Spanish giants Barcelona at Celtic Park in Champions League Group C.

The Hoops are at the bottom of Group C with just two points from four matches. Celtic may not even finish third and drop to the Europa League.
