Craig Gordon lost his place in Celtic’s first choice line-up recently.
Craig Gordon has told BBC Sport that he is desperate for a run of matches in Celtic’s goal.
Gordon began the campaign as Celtic’s number one goalkeeper, but he slipped out of favour, following Dorus De Vries’ arrival at Parkhead.
De Vries appeared to be Brendan Rodgers’ first choice stopper, but the former Nottingham Forest man picked up an injury, which allowed Gordon to play against Manchester City in the Champions League last night.
The Scottish international was in brilliant form as the Bhoys picked up a 3-3 draw with Pep Guardiola’s side.
And Gordon is hoping that his showing in European competition has been enough to convince Rodgers to give him a run of matches.
“I’ve always been confident in what I’m able to do,” Gordon said. “It was other people saying my confidence was gone.
“If I’ve not been selected, that’s the manager’s decision and I fully respect that.
“The other side of that is that I want to play every game.
“I think I’ve done pretty well in stages this season and if I can get a run in the team then hopefully I can go from strength to strength.”
De Vries is likely to be fit again for Celtic’s next match, which comes against Dundee at the weekend.
Whether Rodgers will make many changes to his line up for the fixture remains to be seen, as Celtic put in arguably their finest performance of the season yesterday.
The Bhoys were brilliant against City, and fully deserved to claim a point in the fixture.
Celtic have also started their league campaign well, and another win at Dundee would help them continue to put distance between themselves and the rest of their rivals in the Scottish Premiership.
