Speaking to The Sunday Post, Craig Gordon has admitted that he was “very pleased” with his superb save in Celtic’s 4-0 win over Ross County at the weekend.

Some of Celtic’s outfield players won the post-match plaudits – including two-goal James Forrest and Moussa Dembele for scoring on his return – but the veteran goalkeeper played a big role in the victory.

At 2-0, the Scotland international pulled off a magnificent double save to keep out County, before the Hoops went up the other end and killed the game off by scoring a third.

And Gordon concedes that it was a “big moment” for him.

“They had a few half-chance. You always have to be switched on and make sure you are not giving those chances away,” he told The Sunday Post.

“But it was a good save, one that I am very pleased with and it is nice to contribute.

“At that stage it was only 2-0 and within a minute it goes to 3-0 and the game is over. It was a big moment for me because it means it is a big moment in the game.”

Such heroics will have done Gordon’s confidence the world of good.

The Celtic veteran has occasionally received a hard time from fans this season, questioning him over a certain goal or two, but Saturday’s stop versus County was proof that he remains a very capable stopper.
