Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon has recently penned a new contract with the Glasgow club.
Craig Gordon has told the Scotsman that he had frequent conversations with Brendan Rodgers, soon after the Northern Irish boss took charge at Celtic.
Rodgers became Celtic manager last summer, and initially he appeared to have doubts over using Gordon.
Rodgers signed Dorus de Vries and used him as Celtic’s number one stopper over the early months of the campaign.
And, during this time, Gordon said he was constantly in dialogue with Rodgers, to try and break back into Celtic’s side.
“The manager has been brilliant the whole time,” the Scotland international stopper said.
“He’s talked to me lots of times and is really good at talking to players and making sure everyone is all right. His door is always open if you want to speak to him.
“At one point, I think I was in his office every other day, talking about something or other. But he was great throughout the whole lot and even the negotiating of the contract, he helped out and made sure everything went smoothly.”
Gordon got his chance this season, when De Vries picked up an injury early on in the campaign.
And the 34-year-old goalkeeper has now fully established himself as Celtic’s number one.
Gordon has been in magnificent form this campaign, and he has recently earned a new long-term contract at Parkhead.
Gordon is now set to stay at Celtic until 2020, even though teams such as Chelsea have expressed an interest in signing him.
