Realistically there is little chance of Tottenham and Chelsea doing a deal.

Craig Burley has urged Chelsea to test Tottenham Hotspur and slap down a huge bid for Harry Kane.

Speaking to ESPN FC, reported by The Express, Burley said that Kane is a superior option for Chelsea to chase than Everton’s Romelu Lukaku.

He said: “What are they saying the fee’s going to be? £80million?.

“If it was me, and I don’t think they would get them and they probably wouldn’t, but I would go with another £20million or £10million to Tottenham and say ‘give me a price for Harry Kane’.”

The two players battled for the Golden Boot last season with the Tottenham striker winning the race, scoring seven goals in his final two matches.

Kane’s Spurs fell narrowly short of winning the Premier League title, finishing in second place.

Winners Chelsea are on the lookout for a new striker with doubts remaining over the future of Diego Costa.

Realistically the Blues would have little success tempting Spurs to sell, even for a world record sum.

Even if the price was tempting to Spurs, Chelsea are almost the last club they would want to deal with, as chairman Daniel Levy made clear back in 2011 by refusing to sell them Luka Modric.
