Craig Burley suggests Steve Clarke as future Celtic manager

Steve Clarke’s Kilmarnock are challenging Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title this season.

Craig Burley has suggested to The Herald that Steve Clarke is the best replacement for Brendan Rodgers as the Celtic manager in the future.

Clarke is in charge of Kilmarnock at the moment and is doing a brilliant job at the Scottish Premiership.

Killie are currently just a point behind league leaders Celtic in third place and are very much in the race for the Scottish Premiership title race this season.

Burley, who was on the books of Celtic from 1997 until 1999 and won the league title with the Bhoys in 1998 and now works as a pundit for ESPN, believes that Clarke is the most suitable replacement for Rodgers should the former Liverpool manger leave the Hoops anytime soon.

“The story of 2018 for me is what Steve Clarke has done with Kilmarnock,” Burley told The Herald. “Clarkey is surely the leading candidate if Brendan left any time soon.”

Future Celtic manager?

Clarke is a very good manager who has a strong reputation in England, and the former Chelsea defender should be among the Celtic chiefs’ shortlist should Rodgers leave the Glasgow giants.

What the 55-year-old has done and is doing with Kilmarnock has been absolutely stunning, and hopefully Killie will be able to maintain their title challenge until the end of the season.
