Craig Burley has told ESPN FC that he does not think that West Ham United striker Andy Carroll will leave for Chelsea in the January transfer window.

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea are interested in signing Carroll from Premier League rivals West Ham this month.

It has been reported that the Blues have made contact with their London rivals regarding the permanent signing of the former Newcastle United and Liverpool striker.

Former Chelsea and Celtic midfielder Burley does not believe that West Ham manager David Moyes will sell Carroll to Chelsea in the January transfer window.

Burley told ESPN FC: “The downside is, I think, the results West Ham have had under David Moyes gives Moyes a little bit more power within that board, and I think the predicament they are in, it would be folly to sell a player, who, yeah, he is not going to play every game, but he has already shown under Moyes when fit he is capable of doing some good stuff.”

West Ham are struggling in the Premier League at the moment and are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

Carroll is not guaranteed a place in the Hammers’ starting lineup, but it is hard to see the London club sell him in the January transfer window.

The former Newcastle and Liverpool striker has proven on more than one occasion that he can be a handful for opposition defenders if he is played to his strengths.
