Rangers reportedly wanted Derby County’s Craig Bryson in January, but he’s now joined Steven Gerrard’s Scottish Premiership rivals.

After almost a decade at Derby County, Craig Bryson has sealed an emotional return to Scottish football.
As reported by the BBC, the veteran midfielder has agreed to join Aberdeen on a free transfer when his Pride Park contract expires at the end of the month.
And while Bryson is 32 these days, there can be no doubt about his potential to make a massive difference in a Dons side who recently lost captain Graeme Shinnie – ironically enough, to Derby.
Combining a fierce will to win, bags of experience and the sort of technical ability which could see him dominate games north of the border, Bryson looks like a real coup for Aberdeen, especially after they finished 11 points adrift of Rangers last season.
Now, The Gers themselves were linked with the former Kilmarnock star in January when the Daily Record claimed that Steven Gerrard was desperate to work with him at Anfield.

With Derby chasing promotion and Bryson playing regularly under Frank Lampard, however, Rangers eventually turned their attention elsewhere and brought in both Steven Davis and Glen Kamara later that month.
Kamara has been an inspired addition but Davis, who like Bryson is in his 30s, has flattered to deceive in his second spell at Ibrox. Now, Bryson himself has the chance to prove that Rangers signed the wrong midfield veteran a few miles down the road at Pittodrie.
