Liverpool legend and youth coach Steven Gerrard has revealed he is in talks to become the next manager of Scottish giants Rangers.

Gerrard is expected to continue talks with Rangers about replacing Graeme Murty later this week after telling BT Sport he had held ‘positive initial talks’.
Negotiations are to continue between the club and Gerrard’s party which comes in the aftermath of Rangers’ 5-0 defeat to bitter rivals Celtic.
Any potential agreement with the Ibrox club would see Gerrard take over his first senior position as a manager since retiring from the game.
The news has been the talk of football since it came to light last week with all and sundry having their say.
Pundits and fans have been intrigued by the potential appointment given Celtic’s continued dominance and Gerrard’s status as one of the greatest midfield players of his generation.

And his former Liverpool teammate Craig Bellamy, who knows all about Scottish football from his time at Celtic, delivered his verdict on Gerrard to Gers and offered the club some tongue-in-cheek advice on the first thing they should do when appearing as a guest on Sky Sports’ The Debate.
“I played with him when he was at his best, you always know he’s going to take responsibility … he’s going to lead by example,” Bellamy told Sky Sports’ The Debate.
“But actually his information towards players, he became more vocal, he was never a screamer and shouter but at the same time he’s clear with his information and he’s actually quite correct.
“Even players like myself, I’m a year older than him, looked up to him and actually wanted to listen to what he had to say. And even in the tactical era, going through analysis he picked out one or two very good points.

“Listen Rangers should ask him to put his boots on right now because he’d be that good, he’s still that good and he’d be the best player up there. And that’s no disrespect to anyone up there before I get all the messages saying about Scottish football but he is that good, he can still play.
“As he’s got more mature, it’s just become a natural process (for Gerrard to take a management role).”
Bellamy described Rangers as a footballing ‘institution’ and added that Gerrard cannot say no to such an opportunity.
