Moussa Sissoko has been a regular feature for Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino in recent weeks.
Craig Bellamy has admitted that he didn’t ever see Moussa Sissoko getting into the Tottenham team as he expressed his ‘surprise’ in the player’s rise in form.
The 29-year-old has been a regular feature for Mauricio Pochettino in recent weeks, starting in the middle of the park and on the right flank for his title-chasing team.
In the four games Sissoko has started, Spurs have scored 14 goals and conceded just two as they have climbed into second place, six points behind current Premier League leaders Liverpool.
Former Newcastle striker Bellamy made an admission about the Spurs star, who initially struggled to get into Pochettino’s starting XI.
“I tell you what has surprised me is Sissoko,” Bellamy told Sky Sports’ Debate Show on 27/12/2018 at 10:50 pm.
“[With] Sissoko [it] was like, I cannot see him ever getting into the Spurs team and over the past month, he has been brilliant. He has really looked like the player we saw at Newcastle.”
Sissoko moved to White Hart Lane from then-relegated Newcastle United in 2016 for a big-money fee, but the powerful winger struggled to make a name for himself.
According to Transfermarkt, in the last two league campaigns, Sissoko has started 23 matches for side and has already started 12 this term with half of the season remaining.
Whilst Sissoko hasn’t registered any goals or assists since October, from a defensive standpoint, he has been strong for the London club, particularly in the absence of Victor Wanyama, Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele.
Sissoko and his team will be hoping to extend their five-game winning run when they entertain Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolves at Wembley on Saturday.
