Everton star Wayne Rooney should not join Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard at Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers, but move to MLS, suggests former Celtic forward Craig Bellamy.

Rangers are one of the biggest clubs in the world and will have Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard in charge of the first team from next month.
According to Sky Sports, former Manchester United forward Rooney has agreed a deal in principle with DC United in the USA, with Everton reported to be paid £12 million in transfer fees.
Former Wales international forward Bellamy, who played with Gerrard at Liverpool and had a loan spell at Celtic from Newcastle United in 2005, believes that Rooney should move to the MLS rather than make the switch to Rangers.
Former Arsenal star Paul Merson believes that the 32-year-old, who can also operate as an attacking midfielder and is a global supertsra, should go to Rangers.

Merson told Sky Sports about the prospect of Rooney joining Rangers: “It’d be great for Scottish football – if it was me, I’d go to Rangers.”
Bellamy said: ”He’s proved what he is. We know everything about Wayne Rooney. This next move has to be right for his lifestyle and his family.
“It’s a great opportunity to go somewhere different. Glasgow is a tough city – if I was Wayne, I’d go to America.”

Too expensive
While Rooney joining Rangers would be great, the truth of the matter is that the United legend would be too expensive for the Gers.
Rangers would not be able to pay Everton the transfer fee that they would demand, and they would severely struggle to match Rooney’s current salary, who is reported to be £150,000 per week by The Daily Mail.
