Craig Bellamy believes that Everton would appoint Burnley boss Sean Dyche if it was down to Bill Kenwright.

The Toffees are still searching for their new manager having parted company with Ronald Koeman last month, and amongst the names who have been heavily linked with the post are Burnley boss Dyche and Silva, who has earned plenty of plaudits during his time in England with Hull and Watford.

But Bellamy has suggested that he is not entirely sure that Dyche – who Sky Sports reported was also being considered for the post back in October – would have been overlooked for Silva had Toffees chairman Kenwright been the man making the decision instead of majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri.

“I thought during that short period there he might have been able to do enough to get them out – it wasn’t to be the case. So it didn’t surprise me that when the Watford job became available, they were looking to take him.
“It doesn’t surprise me now that Everton are interested in him but at the same time, I look at it and I say if it was Bill Kenwright, if he got the option to go and sign the manager, I’m sure he’d go Sean Dyche, but now with the foreign owner, I don’t know.”
It could certainly be argued that Dyche is not getting the praise he deserves for the job that he has done at Burnley – they currently sit seventh in the Premier League, level on points with Arsenal and Liverpool and just one point off the top four. Similarly however, Silva’s stock in the English game has risen significantly since Hull brought him in and it seems inevitable that he will ultimately end up with one of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.
