HITC Sport understands former Cardiff boss is to take charge at Ricoh Arena.

League One strugglers Coventry City are set to appoint Russell Slade as their new manager, HITC Sport understands.

The fallen Midlands giants have been in a spiral of struggle for a number of seasons and their owners SISU are in a constant battle with the club’s fans over the future of the Sky Blues.

But SISU are now set to appoint a new boss with Russell Slade coming in on a deal that, HITC Sport understands, will be initially until the end of the season.

Coventry have been looking for a new boss since Tony Mowbray left earlier this year, when he decided to step down.

Now with the club entrenched in the League One relegation battle, they have turned to former Cardiff and Charlton Athletic boss Slade.

Slade himself has only recently left Charlton – another club beset with a owner/supporter feud – but he has decided to take on the task of saving the club from the drop.

Slade and Coventry will assess the situation at the end of the season, as he could extend his stay at the club.
