Coventry City have not had any bids for Viktor Gyokeres amid reports that Premier League quartet Everton, Crystal Palace, Wolves and Leeds United are all keeping tabs on the Championship hitman, Sky Blues boss Mark Robins tells the Coventry Telegraph.

Vincent Kompany’s Burnley faced one of the biggest tests of their title ambitions on Saturday afternoon; coming up against one of the division’s most feared forwards without star centre-half Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

That Burnley emerged with three points and a clean sheet, then, is testament to the resilience and the consistency that Kompany has instilled into this seemingly-irrepressible Clarets machine.

Gyokeres has 12 goals in 26 Championship games this season. 13 in all competitions. Burnley certainly needed Charlie Taylor and match-winner Jordan Beyer to be at their best during a tense 1-0 win at Turf Moor.

There’s arguably not a single centre-forward in England’s second tier with more strings to his bow; strong, quick, skilful and swaggering. Prolific, too. It seems only a matter of time before Gyokeres is strutting his stuff on a bigger stage. Though Robins remains convinced that the Sweden international will be sticking around at Coventry until the summer at least.

“I don’t need any reassurances (about Gyokeres’ future),” a bullish Robins explains. “No, we haven’t had bids for anyone. And they’re not welcome. And there won’t be anyone leaving this January.”

According to TEAMtalk, Everton, Wolves and Crystal Palace are all keeping tabs on the one-time Swansea City youngster, with Leeds reportedly weighing up an offer worth around £14 million.

Coventry value Gyokeres closer to £18 million, however; a fee which has fellow suitors Burnley turning their attention to more affordable attacking targets. Bristol City’s Antoine Semenyo to name but one.

Coventry supporters can afford to sleep a little easier for the time being, at least. Wolves and Leeds have invested big sums on the likes of Matheus Cunha and Georginio Rutter. Cash-strapped Everton, meanwhile, are paying the price for years of reckless overspending.
