Liverpool-owned Herbie Kane opened his account for his loan club on Saturday.
The 21-year-old left the Reds to join Hull City on a half-season loan in the January transfer window.
Before the global health crisis, the Liverpool prospect was enjoying his time with the Tigers and had started three Championship games – all defeats.
But he scored his first goal in yesterday’s pulsating 3-3 draw away at Birmingham City – and it should’ve been the winner.
Kane scored a brilliant free kick to fire City 3-2 ahead with 23 minutes to go, but the hosts, who were 2-0 down, equalised again in the closing stages.
The youngster, who was playing for Liverpool Under-23s during the first half of the campaign, rifled a low shot into the bottom right-hand corner, under the jumping wall.
It had shades of a free kick that Philippe Coutinho scored away to West Ham United in 2016.
Here’s how Liverpool and Hull fans reacted to Kane’s effort yesterday:
Being a midfielder, it’s doubtful that Kane will be coming back to stake a claim in Jurgen Klopp’s senior side anytime soon.
The truth is that the German manager has an abundance of quality midfielders at his disposal and although Kane is a big talent, a lot more is needed before he’s anywhere close to ready for Liverpool’s first team.
