Bayern Munich are not looking to sell Tottenham and Arsenal linked midfielder Corentin Tolisso this summer with Hansi Flick speaking out in support of a ‘great player’, in quotes reported by Maxifoot.

Then again, Thiago Alcantara was not so keen to sample something new after almost a decade in Bavaria, maybe it would be a World Cup winning Frenchman instead on the verge of a move away from Munich.

ESPN reported a month ago that Bayern were open to the idea of letting Tolisso move to England as part of a swap deal with Tottenham’s big-money benchwarmer Tanguy Ndombele.

Fussball Transfers, meanwhile, suggested that Arsenal could offer the £40 million enforcer the chance to prove himself in the Premier League.

But, with Thiago’s desire to depart becoming clear in recent weeks, it seems that Bayern are now desperate to ensure they do not lose two top-level midfielders in the very same transfer window.

“He’s a great player, we all know that,” treble-seeking coach Flick said when asked about Tolisso’s potential exit.

“Our team is counting on him, but he has suffered a lot of injuries in recent months. We all hope he can train without pain, and even play (in the Champions League next month).”

Like Thiago during his early days in Germany, Tolisso has been beset by an unrelenting array of fitness problems since becoming Bayern’s record signing in 2017.

On paper, the 25-year-old former Lyon ace has everything you would want from a midfielder – the ability to control a game with his pinpoint passing, the energy to go from box-to-box for 90 minutes and, of course, a ferocious shot from long distance.

But having been restricted to just eight Bundesliga starts in two seasons, Tolisso has not had many chances to show off his scary skill-set of late.
