Liverpool’s Michael Edwards is one of the best transfer gurus in the business.

And it’s been obvious from early on in his stint as Director of Football that the Reds man knew what he was doing in the market.

Back in 2016, Edwards sold Jordon Ibe to Bournemouth for a £15 million fee [BBC Sport]

At the time, some Liverpool fans weren’t sure if it was a mistake or not given the potential that the 24-year-old winger had shown under Jurgen Klopp and earlier Brendan Rodgers.

But fast forward four years, it’s been proven to be a masterstroke.

That’s because Ibe is set to be released by the Cherries in July [Sky Sports] and the fact that Liverpool got an eight-figure fee for him has to be considered a bargain.

During his four years with Eddie Howe’s side, Ibe managed only three Premier League goals and seven assists from 78 games.

As a winger, it’s a dreadful return and one that makes a mockery of the Raheem Sterling comparisons that came his way earlier in his career.

Here’s how Liverpool fans reacted to his imminent release on Twitter:
