Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp has shared details of a minor illness spreading through the Liverpool camp.
Sadly, a couple of Liverpool players have gone down sick this week, with Curtis Jones and Kostas Tsimikas having to miss training due to an issue.
Luckily, Tsimikas is back in training, but according to Klopp, Jones is still out of action.
What’s been said?
Klopp spoke about Jones and Tsimikas.
“We had a bit of a problem, and I hope it didn’t extend or get bigger. We had a little problem with diarrhoea and stuff, Curtis and Kostas. Kostas was back yesterday, Curtis couldn’t train yesterday still, so these two boys were out.”

Shouldn’t be missed
It’s never good to have an illness spreading in your squad, but luckily for Liverpool, Curtis Jones isn’t a key player.
The youngster is an incredibly talented footballer and he’s a player the Reds would certainly rather have available, but with the likes of Jordan Henderson, Thiago, Naby Keita and James Milner all available for selection, he shouldn’t be missed too much.
As Klopp says though, the main worry is that this illness could spread throughout the squad, and while it is only a minor ailment, we’ve seen things like this before derail a team’s season.
Think back to the famous ‘lasagna gate’ incident with Tottenham, an illness spreading in a team can absolutely obliterate a squad for a short period of time, and with the title hanging in the balance, Liverpool need to make sure to avoid such a scenario.
