Clinton Morrison has said on Sky Sports News (9:42pm, September 1, 2022) that Leeds United winger Daniel James was right not to move to Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.
The former Crystal Palace forward believes that James, who joined Fulham on loan from Leeds on the final day of the summer transfer window, would have struggled for playing time at Tottenham.
The Times reported that Tottenham wanted to get a deal done for the former Manchester United winger on transfer deadline day.
Morrison said about James on Sky Sports News (9:42pm, September 1, 2022): “I was surprised when they (Tottenham) were interested in Dan James.
“I think Fulham is probably a better destination for him because I think he will get more playing time.
“It was maybe another body that Antonio Conte wanted there, but at this stage of his career, Dan James needs to be playing football week in week out.
“Wales are going to the World Cup in November. He needs to be playing. He does need to be playing.
“I feel like going to Fulham would be a good move. I couldn’t see him playing much at Tottenham.”

Daniel James right to join Fulham ahead of Tottenham Hotspur
In our opinion, Leeds United-owned winger Daniel James made the right decision in moving to Fulham and not to Tottenham Hotspur on summer transfer deadline day.
As Morrison notes, Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte has options in attack.
Now, of course, James is a very good player who is quick, but he would have been a squad player at Spurs.
After all, you could not really see James get ahead of Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Moura in the Tottenham starting lineup.
Harry Kane and Son Heung-min are regulars in the Tottenham attack.
And there is also Richarlison at Spurs.
At Fulham, Wales international winger James would stand a better chance of playing regularly.
