Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after hearing about Wayne Hennessey’s Man of the Match display for Burnley last night.
What’s the story?
Well, the 34-year-old was making his debut for the Clarets, who he joined on a free transfer after his contract at Selhurst Park expired.
In contrasting fashion to his efforts for Crystal Palace, Hennessey was superb as Sean Dyche’s men beat Newcastle on penalties.
The 96-cap Wales international denied Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron from 12 yards at St James’ Park as Burnley won 4-3 in the shootout.
Now, this has understandably sparked a reaction from the Crystal Palace fans for two reasons.
One, Hennessey simply wasn’t very good in south London, so him doing anything remotely heroic is quite a surprise.
Secondly, it’s a hilarious incident given what he did in the exact same stage of the Carabao Cup last season.
What did Wayne Hennessey do at Crystal Palace last term?

Where Hennessey was responsible for Burnley winning the second round of the Carabao Cup this year, he was the villain in 2020.
An incredible shootout, which Bournemouth were leading 11-10, meant Hennessey had to step up and score to keep the Eagles in the game.
However, the ex-Wolves man blazed the ball into outer space in embarrassing fashion, causing Crystal Palace to crash out of the cup.

So, you can understand why the Selhurst Park faithful are a bit annoyed, and puzzled, to see him become the hero for another club.
Let’s see what the Crystal Palace fans on Twitter have been saying about Hennessey’s heroics…
