Son Heung-min has revealed to Tottenham Hotspur’s official website that he was ‘shocked’ to be told that he had suffered a broken arm in his most recent appearance for the club.
The South Korea international fired Spurs to a last-gasp victory away to Aston Villa back in February.
But it later emerged that Son was injured without knowing it, as The Independent reported that he had broken his arm during the game and required surgery.
The former Bayer Leverkusen attacker was then expected to miss the rest of Tottenham’s season, before the global health emergency halted the fixture list a few weeks later.
He told the club’s official website today: “I didn’t realise how bad it was. I was watching the game against Villa back in my home town, it was emotional, how we celebrated, last minute and then I went to the hospital in the UK, saw the X-ray and I was shocked.
“I couldn’t believe it because I played on. The three months, for me, has been very quick.”
Son hasn’t played for Tottenham since but the Premier League season looks set to get back underway later this month.
Jose Mourinho’s side are eighth in the Premier League table and seven points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, meaning that a herculean effort is required if the North Londoners are to quality for the Champions League next season.
