Some Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to BT Sports deciding that Liverpool midfielder Thiago was the best player at Anfield.

Newcastle played out a 1-1 draw with Liverpool away from home at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday.

Mohamed Salah put the defending Premier League champions in the lead after just three minutes, but Arsenal-owned Joe Willock found the back of the net for the Magpies in the fifth minute of injury time.

Former Liverpool star Steve McManaman was on co-commentary duty for the match for BT Sports, and he awarded the Man of the Match award to Thiago.

The 30-year-old Spain international central midfielder – who cost Liverpool £20 million in transfer fees when they signed him from Bayern Munich last summer, according to BBC Sport – started the match and played for 77 minutes.

According to WhoScored, the former Barcelona star played two key passes, had a pass accuracy of 90.1%, took 113 touches, attempted one dribble, and made six tackles.

Some Newcastle fans believe that goalkeeper Martin Dubravka should have been given the Man of the Match award for the saves he made against Liverpool.
