Tottenham Hotspur seem to have been linked with Wilfried Zaha for a number of years, but the winger moving elsewhere could also help Mauricio Pochettino.
It seems to have become a safe bet to predict that Tottenham will be linked with a potential move for Wilfried Zaha whenever a transfer window opens. For example, in 2016, the Guardian reported that Spurs had made a £12 million bid for the winger, and The Sun has recently suggested that Zaha remains a player that Mauricio Pochettino wishes to sign.
In fact, The Sun reported that Spurs lead the race for the £70 million-rated forward this summer. But interestingly, the report added that Borussia Dortmund are also interested in signing the Crystal Palace talisman before the new season starts.
With Zaha arguably one of the most exciting players outside of the top six in the Premier League last season, it would perhaps not be a huge surprise if missing out to the German side would annoy a section of the Tottenham supporters if he did ultimately make the switch to the Westfalenstadion.
However, while Pochettino may be frustrated if he did head to Dortmund, perhaps it would actually provide a major boost to Spurs’ hopes of landing another of their targets.
If Zaha is brought in, Pulisic may perhaps find himself slightly further down the pecking order and he may perhaps be more interested in a potential move away – and that should undoubtedly alert Spurs given the potential that the 19-year-old possesses.
With Pulisic considerably younger and arguably much more established on the kind of stages that Spurs are looking to battle on than Zaha is, it seems that targeting Pulisic would arguably make a lot more sense for Tottenham.
And perhaps there is a chance that long-time Spurs target Zaha may be the one to boost Pochettino’s hopes of getting something done for Pulisic.
