Celtic and Wolverhampton Wanderers are both linked with Craig Dawson.
Celtic were linked with a move for £15 million-rated West Bromwich Albion defender Craig Dawson earlier this month.
The Mirror’s Live Transfer Blog on May 5 [21:53] suggested that Brendan Rodgers wanted to take the 28-year-old to Glasgow this summer.
But Wolverhampton Wanderers’ interest in the West Brom man [The Mirror] meant that Celtic would always be second favourites if both were keen, given that Wolves are now a Premier League club.
However, the path may be a little clearer for Rodgers to now move for the English defender, if other rumours are to be believed.
The Mirror claimed on Monday that Wanderers are interested in signing Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof, in a move which would lessen the need for Dawson, who can play right-back and centre-back.
Lindelof – valued at £45 million by CIES, Football Observatory – wouldn’t come cheap and if Wolves spend big on the Swedish centre-back then it makes a transfer for the £15 million-rated Dawson less likely, one would imagine.
Burnley and West Ham United are also credited with an interest in the West Brom ace – who has just been relegated – so a move to Celtic is anything but guaranteed, but it does at least give Rodgers one less team to fend off if Wolves are preoccupied with the Red Devil.
