Leeds United have been linked with Swedish defender Linus Wahlqvist for some time but could Wolves be tracking him instead?

Leeds United’s long-running links with Swedish defender Linus Wahlqvist appear to have dried up for now. Voetbal Belgie first linked The Whites with the Norrkoping right-back in November of last year and, for the next few months, Leeds were a constant presence in the Scandinavian press with Wahlqvist earning rave reviews for his impressive performances.
These days, however, one of Leeds’ Championship rivals may be seen as a more likely destination for Wahlqvist.

Wolves recruited impressively in the off-season, albeit aided by the financial power of Chinese conglomerate Fosun International and the connections of the owner’s close aide, super-agent Jorge Mendes.
Wolves brought in a number of talented players from the Iberian market and it looks as if their pursuit of good value talent has taken them north to Scandinavia.

And Wahlqvist may be one player who could catch the club’s eye. Wolves aren’t blessed with endless options at right-back after all with Matt Doherty one of the few in the squad capable of playing in the role.
Wahlqvist, then, would provide some useful back-up and, if he continues to enhance his growing reputation in Sweden, should quickly become one of the names at the top of Goodchild’s wishlist.
