Whether West Ham United stay in the Premier League or not, changes are coming at the London Stadium this summer, and that may extend to a new manager.

Fans may want new owners, given the hostility towards David Gold and David Sullivan right now, but whilst that seems a little unlikely, one off-field change will be made for sure.

West Ham plan to appoint a director of football this summer, taking over transfers and relieving some pressure and responsibility from Sullivan, with only one named linked with the job so far.

The Sun report that West Ham want to land Leicester City’s head of recruitment Eduardo Macia as their new director of football, and will target the Spaniard this summer.

Macia, 43, had recent spells with Olympiacos, Fiorentina and Real Betis, but is best known for working with Rafael Benitez at both Valencia and Liverpool, helping to sign a host of top players.

Macia helped Benitez land the likes of Fernando Torres, Javier Mascherano and Raheem Sterling at Liverpool, with the pair working closely together before both leaving in 2010.

West Ham may look for a new manager this summer given that David Moyes’ contract expires at the end of the season, and their dream may just be reunite Benitez and Macia at the London Stadium.

Newcastle boss Benitez seems a little more settled at St James’ Park right now than he did earlier in the season amidst a perceived lack of backing, but he will still need assurances over his budget this summer in order to commit his future to the Magpies.

The Telegraph recently reported that West Ham still want to land Benitez as their next manager after years of speculation, and they may just feel that landing Macia can help them secure a dream partnership for next season and beyond, with a double swoop certainly ambitious, and at least somewhat possible.
