West Bromwich Albion winger Jefferson Montero has struggled since arriving from Swansea City.

Jefferson Montero’s loan to West Bromwich Albion has hardly gone according to plan this season, but if Garry Monk takes charge at the Hawthorns then his time in the Midlands may not be over.

The Daily Mail have suggested that Monk is now a leading candidate to take over at West Brom, and he is a big fan of Montero.

The pair worked together at Swansea City earlier in their respective careers.

And during that time Monk claimed that West Brom winger was one of the best dribblers in England.

“Jeff is probably the best in the league in that situation,” Monk admitted to ESPN.

“I haven’t seen anyone one-v-one create so many opportunities by beating his man – his percentage of winning those duels is probably the highest in the league.”

Montero has rarely been used by West Brom this season, and he hasn’t even been in their match day squad recently.

However, Monk clearly feels that the 29-year-old could be a weapon.

And if the Birmingham City boss was to be brought to West Brom, then it would not be a major surprise to see his loan move become a permanent one, even though that seemed highly unlikely under previous management.
