Sean Dyche has suggested that Burnley are under no pressure to sell, so what could that mean for West Bromwich Albion?

According to a recent report from The Telegraph, West Brom plan to make a January bid for Burnley defender Ben Mee should they end up losing Jonny Evans – who has been attracting plenty of attention from a number of their Premier League rivals.

Given Evans’ importance to the Baggies side, losing him would be a huge blow for Alan Pardew, and the fact that they have identified Mee as a potential replacement certainly says a lot about how highly they rate the 28-year-old.

But perhaps Sean Dyche’s comments – which have been reported by the Lancashire Telegraph – just hint that it will be an extremely tough task for West Brom to tempt the Clarets into selling the former Manchester City trainee.

“When you think of some of the numbers this summer, there’s no ceiling, so to sit here and say none of our players are going, like some managers do…some teams can do that, but we can’t,” he said, as reported by the Lancashire Telegraph.

“But they’re all under contract at the right and appropriate level. So we know where we are as a business.

“But if they are getting looked at, it’s a sign of success, people are saying ‘there’s good players there’ and that’s part of what’s been ongoing for five years.

“We haven’t been under pressure to sell for a couple of years, but the market is what it is.”

With Burnley under little pressure to sell, according to Dyche, it will surely take a stunning offer from the Baggies to tempt them into letting Mee leave Turf Moor, especially as replacing the centre-back will be even tougher during the January transfer window.

With The Telegraph reporting that if Evans leaves, he is likely to command a fee of around £30 million, it would certainly appear that the Baggies will have the funds to make the kind of bid that Burnley simply cannot refuse.

But with Pardew’s men in a precarious position in the Premier League right now, Pardew may want to use those funds – if they do have to sell Evans – to improve a number of positions.

However, Dyche’s comments just hint that if he wants Mee in January, a complete overhaul of the squad may be difficult as he may not have as much money left over as he would like.
