West Bromwich Albion reportedly sent scouts to watch Scott McKenna during the Scottish League Cup semi-final.

The Baggies are apparently considering a move for McKenna as Darren Moore looks to improve a defence who boast the worst record of any team in the top-half in the Championship.
McKenna is one of the brightest talents in the Scottish Premiership. But that is exactly why West Brom cannot expect an easy run to his signature, with the likes of Wolves, Aston Villa and Swansea City all recently scouting the centre-back, according to The Sun on Sunday (30/09; page 59).
Aberdeen’s reported asking price of £10 million (via Sky Sports) may perhaps prove to be another stumbling block for all of the interested sides given that he is developing his game at this stage of his career.

But perhaps West Brom may actually have an advantage over all of their rivals in the race for McKenna’s signature.
Derek McInnes is not going to want to see one of his best players leave the Dons anytime soon. But if they receive the kind of offers that make it apparent that he is likely to be on his way, then surely the Baggies could become the favourites.

McInnes enjoyed a very good spell at The Hawthorns during his playing days – leading the club to promotion to the Premier League – and was linked with the manager’s job before Moore was appointed as full-time boss in the summer.
If McKenna seeks advice from McInnes, then it would surely not be out of the question to suggest that he would back West Brom to be the right move for the defender, especially as they clearly need to strengthen their options.
