The West Bromwich Albion youngster has barely featured this season but that could change next month.

Of all West Bromwich Albion’s academy talent, Sam Field is widely regarded as one of the very best, and yet this season he has struggled for game time despite starting the campaign in the Baggies’ first XI.
Those games against Bournemouth and Burnley aside – when it is worth noting Tony Pulis’s side picked up six points with conceding a goal – Field has had to make do with under-23 football and a couple of spells as an unused substitute.

That is not an indication of Field’s talent, far from it, with the 18-year-old expected to one day be a star for club and country. However it does show the quality at West Brom’s disposal right now and the tough task for even the best youngsters trying to break through.
While Field has struggled for minutes at the Hawthorns in recent months, the upcoming Christmas and New ear fixtures should offer him a path back into the fold, with the matches coming thick and fast in late December and early January.

West Brom will need all the players at their disposal as Pulis attempts to utilise his squad effectively, especially with the Baggies’ impressive early-season form tailing off, leaving them very much in a scrap at the bottom of the table.
Field has arguably become an even better player in his absence, with West Brom failing to get a win on the board without him, and even if it takes until late December to see him return, expect Field to make his mark before the turn of the year.
