Leeds United forward Tyler Roberts could link up with both Daniel James and Harry Wilson while away on international duty.

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa reacts during the Sky Bet Championship match between Leeds United and Sheffield United at Elland Road on March 16, 2019 in Leeds, England.

One of Marcelo Bielsa’s primary concerns during the international break will be that all of his key men return from being away with their nations unscathed and ready to help Leeds get back on track in the Championship promotion race.

A number of first-team stars will be absent from Thorp Arch this week, including Tyler Roberts, who will be hoping to add to his four caps for Wales when they face Trinidad and Tobago and Slovakia this month.

Roberts’ fortunes may be of particular interest to Bielsa due to the squad that Ryan Giggs has named for the two games, with two of the Whites’ reported summer targets also in the ranks.

The Telegraph reported earlier this month that Leeds were set to sign Dan James on loan from Swansea for £1.5 million in January, and the deal would become permanent for £7 million in the summer if the Whites went up – while the overall fee could then subsequently jump to £10 million.

Of course, the Swans would pull the plug on the deal after James had completed a medical. But the Daily Mirror reported shortly after the move fell through that he would still be monitored ahead of a potential summer bid.

Meanwhile, The Sun on Sunday (3/3; page 61) reported that Leeds plan to target Liverpool’s Harry Wilson if they are promoted to the Premier League this season following his superb campaign with Derby County.

With the three men all in the same Wales squad, it may be interesting to see whether they all get the chance to play together and whether there are any flashes of brilliance between them that whets the appetite amongst the Elland Road faithful.

With Roberts showing potential as a striker as well as a number 10, and Wilson and James both capable of playing on the wing, it is perhaps not entirely out of the question to suggest that the trio may form a future forward line at Leeds as well as for their country.
