Newcastle should look to their under-23 winger before considering buying a player in the same position.

As Newcastle United close in on Premier League survival, Rafa Benitez will hope to start turning his attention towards the summer transfer window.
And somewhat surprisingly, reports have suggested Newcastle could target a winger: Fotomac allege an interest in Garry Rodrigues, while The Sun say there is an interest in Johann Berg Gudmundsson.
The Magpies already have Matt Ritchie, Christian Atsu and Jacob Murphy, with Kenedy a potential signing at the end of his loan and Rolando Aarons set to return from Serie A.

Any move for a winger would therefore be interesting, but might Newcastle already have a player in their setup that could save Benitez a lot of money?
Victor Fernandez made his first team bow on Sunday, featuring in a mid-season friendly against Royal Antwerp.
And the 19-year-old did not look out of place at all. He terrorised an experienced international in Jelle van Damme, before linking up with Ayoze Perez to win a penalty.

Fernandez moved the ball well, delivered some teasing crosses and tested the goalkeeper. With plenty of years still to grow, he showed everything Benitez could want in a wide man.
Considering Newcastle’s desperate need for a striker – presumably at some cost – the opportunity to save money by turning to a young player should work for everyone at St James’ Park.
Benitez has already shown what he can do with young players like Jamaal Lascelles, Isaac Hayden and Kenedy, making him an ideal coach for Fernandez in the years to come.
