The 23-year-old wanted to join Celtic in 2015 but he is now reportedly on Everton’s radar.

Celtic fans might not remember former transfer target Mahmoud ‘Trezequet’ Hassan, but he had his heart set on a move to Parkhead back in 2015.

Back then, he told Herald Scotland: “I’ve repeatedly stated that I want to sign for Celtic. And I have been told that Celtic’s official offer to the club will arrive this week.

“I won’t give up my dream. Especially since everybody knows the name and popularity of a club like Celtic.”

The club in question was Anderlecht and considering Trezeguet never wound up in Glasgow, perhaps the offer never arrived – but could the Hoops’ hierarchy come to rue that decision?

The 23-year-old, who has eight goals in 21 games for loan side Kasimpasa, might be on his way to the Premier League this summer and if he shines, it may just embarrass Celtic somewhat.

According to The Sun, Everton and Bournemouth are interested in the Egypt international, who is now dreaming of a move to England’s top flight.

Signing for a club like Everton would be a very big deal and impressing at the World Cup could mean that the Toffees and Bournemouth might have to spend big in order to sign the Anderlecht ace.

Simply put, it wouldn’t be a good look for Celtic – whose manager was Ronny Deila at the time of Hassan’s comments – if he takes the Premier League by storm and you wonder whether the Egyptian winger will haunt the Scottish giants in the near future.
