Tottenham striker Shayon Harrison faces a battle to be selected.

Tottenham Hotspur Shayon Harrison faces a battle to earn a spot on the club’s upcoming tour of the USA.

Harrison travelled on the pre-season trip to Australia last summer last summer, and scored in the win over Inter Milan in Norway.

He benefited from Harry Kane’s late return due to playing at Euro 2016, and his schedule this summer is unclear.

At the weekend Harrison started for a youthful Spurs XI which lost to Stevenage, scoring the only goal as the team were beaten 3-1.

This time last year he was being discussed as a viable third choice for Spurs behind Vincent Janssen and Harry Kane, but his prospects do not quite seem as bright this time around.

While he made his debut in the final few minutes of a EFL Cup loss to Liverpool in October, Harrison did not get close to a first team role after that.

Instead of being kept around in case of first team injuries, Spurs decided to loan him to Yeovil Town in January.

Tottenham manager Mauricio PochettinoTottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino so far appears unconvinced

Harrison struggled on his loan spell, scoring only one goal for the Glovers and failing to nail a first team spot.

This would have confirmed Mauricio Pochettino’s concerns that he was not ready for the first team.

At present he appears likely to face an uphill task, and missing out on tour would be a clear sign that he needs to go out on loan again and hope for better success.
